Iannotti Racing History

The road to where Iannotti Racing is today has its roots in a 1969 Chevy Nova. Three brothers, Jack, Ed and Ron first became involved with the excitement of drag racing in 1974 when Eddie took the sleek Nova to the starting line. Ron Iannotti needed only a short time to be around the excitement before he was hooked.

In 1986, the Iannotti brothers purchased a tube chasis 1986 Camaro which Ron drove in Bracket Races on the east coast. The car was chosen Best Appearing at New England Dragway in 1986. Then, in 1988, Ron decided to build a new car for the IHRA Top Sportsman Class. The Chevy Beretta he chose to run was constructed by Ken Webber (Webber Engineering). Running a 526 cubic inch Supercharges Rodeck, this car was chosen Best Engineeered at the IHRA Summer Nationals at Atco Raceway.

After two years of racing, Ron decided to take a rest and brother Ed continued to race the Beretta. It only took a year off the track for Ron to realize how much he wanted to race. He teamed up with Bob Leach of Leominster, Mass, attended Roy Hill's Drag Racing School and was in the seat again. Soon after getting behind the wheel again, Ron broke the 200 mph milestone and was contracted by Super Chevy Magazine as part of their Pro Mod Show. The best pass on the Beretta to date is a 6.85 at 205 mph.

In 1995 Ron had Stroupe Race Cars of North Carolina construct him a new ZR-1 Corvette. Ed sold the Camaro and took over the Beretta, now running it in the Super Comp Class with a 472 cu.in. and a powerglide. Ron put a new 706 cubic inch NOS assisted powerplant in the ZR-1.

In 1998 the Iannotti Team organized what they felt was the winning combination. Big happenings on the Pro Mod front were occurring also. Longtime friends Brian Winkler and Bill Gonsowski joined Ron on the crew, along with Rich Carlow, and Jack Iannotti. Ron began to run the Super Slammers Series which included Lebanon Valley, New England, and Oxford Plains Dragways.

Ron had impressive showings on the Super Slammers circuit in 1998 and 99, but it was the year 2000 when Ron made an all out commitment for success... the rest is history. After an opening week victory, the Iannotti team suffered a setback with the car. Some hard work and dedication put the car back on the track for what would become an exciting and impressive run at the Super Slammers title.

While setting new personal records the Iannotti team battled rivals Pat Doherty and Terry Hall in a close race through the Super Slammers season before finally pulling away late in the and capturing the coveted crown as 2000 Super Slammers Champion.

2001 brought more success as Ron took home the Top Sprtsman Quick 8 Title as part of the IHRA North American Nationals in September at his home track. Ron also picked up two other Pro Mod wins and set new personal bests of 6.38 seconds and 219 Miles Per Hour. IN 2002, the Iannotti Racing ZR-1 got a new look thanks to Ron's good friend Jesse James of West Coast Choppers. The red ZR-1 Also received associate backing from Eastern VP Racing Fuel and Amalie Oil.

More than just a great spectacle on the track, the Iannotti team is a crowd favorite in the pits. A friendly atmosphere with beautiful women and great official team products make the between races activities fun for all. We encourage all our fans to stop by and say hello as the Iannotti team sets their sights on the top once again.
